LoBiondo Lauds Winners of Congressional Art

By Press Release

MAYS LANDING – U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo (R-2nd) May 6 congratulated Viterson Cenat of Absegami High School for winning the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. Cenat’s self-portrait piece will be displayed in Washington, D.C. for one year in the tunnel connecting the main tour route of visitors to the U.S. Capitol.
“I congratulate Viterson for his ingenuity and creativity on display in his self-portrait and I believe his piece will be outstanding addition to the U.S. Capitol,” stated LoBiondo in a release. “The annual Congressional Art Competition encourages young artists in our communities, and I am pleased to again have my office participate.”
The second and third place winners were Emily Faunce (“Self-Portrait in Purple”) and Sydney Trombetta (“Life in Color”), respectively. Faunce is also a student at Absegami High School while Trombetta attends Cape Christian Academy. The second and third place submissions will be displayed in LoBiondo’s Washington, D.C. (secnd place) and Mays Landing (third place) offices.
Judging the students’ submissions were three representatives of The Noyes Museum of Art of Richard Stockton College: Assistant Director Sara Gendlek, Director of Education Saskia Schmidt, and Director of Exhibitions & Collections Dorrie Papademetriou.
