COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Library will host an assortment of activities and programs this September.
Sept. 5
County Library Offers Program on Picasa Basics
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the program, “Picasa Basics” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Picasa is a free software program that helps you organize and edit your photos. You will learn the basics so that you can make your favorite photos better and share them with friends.
There is no charge for the class, but enrollment is limited to eight students; therefore, registration and a valid library card are required to attend.

County Library Offers Watercolor Art Course
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the course, “Fearless Watercolors” instructed by Sue Rau. This six-week course will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Sept 6 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. No experience is needed for this vibrantly fun watercolor course. If you have ever wanted to try this magnificent medium of colors, or have been trying to get back into it, now would be a great time for expressing yourself in the art of watercolor.

County Library Hosts Monarchs and Milkweed Program
The Cape May County Library invites the public to the program, “Monarchs and Milkweed” with Pat Sutton at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Join Sutton to learn all about the Monarch’s life cycle and journey from Mexico to the United States and Canada in the spring and back to Mexico in the fall for the winter months.

County Library Offers Basic Computer Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “My First Computer Class” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
In this class for beginners, you will learn basic computer terms and get comfortable with the layout of the keyboard. There will be plenty of opportunity to practice mouse skills and get one-on-one help from the instructors.
There is no charge for the class, but enrollment is limited to eight students; therefore, registration and a valid library card are required to attend.

County Library Hosts Healthy Lifestyle Program
The Cape May County Library invites the public to the program, “Healthy Lifestyles Makeover: The 3 P’s of Eating Healthy on a Budget” with Janis Washington-White at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Learn how the 3 P’s, planning, purchasing and preparing, can help meet the challenge of providing affordable, healthy foods for you and your family. County Library Offers Basic PowerPoint Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the class, “Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Basics” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Learn the basics for creating presentations to communicate your information and keep your audience interested. You will be working with the 2010 version of Microsoft PowerPoint. County Library Hosts Natural History Lecture
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the lecture, “Natural Cape May” with Mike Crewe at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Cape May City Library, 110 Ocean Street, Cape May City.
Take a look at the natural world in Cape May County and find out what is happening in the world beyond. Birds, mammals, flowers, insects and much more, all come under the spotlight as we look at what to expect now and in the coming month.

County Library Hosts “Brunch” Cooking Demonstration
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the demonstration, “Cape Cuisine: Cooks Brunch” with Chef Mark Kalla at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Chef Kalla will demonstrate the aspect of hosting the perfect brunch and preparing and cooking brunch with recipes from an assortment of breakfast and lunch items. Participants will be invited to sample the foods that have been prepared.

County Library Offers OverDrive Program
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the program, “Using OverDrive and OneClick Digital” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
OverDrive and its application, Media Console, will get you reading ebooks at home and on the go! Learn how to navigate this multi-faceted tool, which offers over one million titles, including audio books. In addition, if you love audiobooks, the OneClick Digital application is a great source with all titles in their catalog always available.

County Library Offers Class on Microsoft Word
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the class, “Microsoft Word 2010 Basics” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10 a.m. on Sept. 16 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Find out all you can do with Microsoft’s most used word processing program. You will learn formats for creating professional quality documents, as well as reviewing for grammatical errors and inserting photos into a document.

County Library Movie Night Features “The Great Gatsby”
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend a viewing of The Great Gatsby at 6 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.

County Library Offers Second Level Computer Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “My Second Computer Class” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 6 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Take the next step to being friends with your computer. In this class, you will learn about hardware and software and how they work together.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to the program, “Jersey Cape Fishing” with Fred Uhlman at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Want to get some insider scoop on local fishing? Come join us for this exciting program with local fishing expert, Fred Uhlman. He will share some secrets on how to achieve the best fishing around the Jersey Cape and will show you how to rig tackle baits for inshore and Back Bay fishing for flounder, striper, bass and weakfish.

County Library Hosts “Fairytale” Cooking Demonstration
The Cape May County Library invites the public to the demonstration, “Alice Eats Wonderland” with Chef James Harris at 1 p.m. on Sept. 23 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Chef Harris has created some wonderful and unique recipes to share with you based on the classic tale, “Alice in Wonderland.” On the menu for the day will be finger sandwiches, savory soups, delectable cookies and cupcakes and tasty tea.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the program, “Prezi” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10 a.m. on Sept. 25 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Prezi is a free cloud based tool for creating interesting presentations. Zoom in and out of your topics, or tell a story in a lively format.

County Library Offers Advanced Computer Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “My Third Computer Class” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 6 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
You have learned the basics of using a computer and how it works; now it’s time to take it to the next level. In this class, you will learn a few concepts on how to use your computer like a pro and how to do basic computer tasks, from finding your way around the computer to going online. This class will be in a Windows based setting.

County Library Offers iPad Program
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the program, “Exploring the iPad” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Come in and learn some basic functionality of the iPad, as well as look into tips, tricks and shortcuts that will benefit everyone from the novice to the expert. Please note that we will not be providing iPads, but you are free to bring your own to follow along and learn.
