July 4th Festivities Will Offer Something for Everyone

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle City is always “the place to be” on Independence Day. However, this year, in addition to the resort’s annual July 4th Junior Olympics competition for children during the morning and a huge fireworks display at night, Sea Isle City has added a special concert to its calendar of events that will delight people of all ages with patriotic music.
Independence Day will begin with the Junior Olympics competition at Sea Isle’s Dealy Field Recreation Complex, located on Central Avenue between 59th and 63rd Street. During this free event for boys and girls, ages 3-13, kids will compete by age and gender in running, jumping and throwing contests. Children will be escorted between each event by volunteers from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City, who will also judge the competitions. Afterwards, the top winners in each contest will receive Olympic medals while standing on a three-tiered victory platform.
Parents can register their children at Dealy Field beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of the Junior Olympics. The competitions and awards ceremonies last for approximately two hours. Families are reminded to bring hats, sunscreen, bottled water and their cameras. To learn more about Sea Isle City’s Junior Olympics, phone (609) 263-0050.
Independence Day evening will kick-off with a free patriotic concert at the Excursion Park Band Shell, located at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature Alex Glover & Company, who will perform a “Tribute to America.” To learn more about this concert, phone (609) 263-8687.
Sea Isle City’s annual Independence Day fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. The “rocket’s red glare” will be launched from an ocean barge anchored near the 50th Street Beach, which will make Sea Isle’s Promenade and other beach-front areas ideal viewing locations. The rain date for the fireworks will be July 5. For additional information about Sea Isle’s July 4th pyrotechnics display, phone (609) 263-0500.
