COURT HOUSE – Linda Gentille and The Jersey Shore Pops will be continuing their 8 concert season on July 6 with “Stars & Stripes” at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. This spectacular patriotic show will feature the orchestra’s founder and conductor Linda Gentille performing many American songs and will include her spectacular original rendition of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
This show will be a multi-media concert with the music and history of the great American composers such as John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Scott Joplin, Stephen Foster and Cole Porter. The show also includes a patriotic tribute to Veterans and those in the military currently serving their country. Regular guest vocalist Jacklyn Buckingham will again join the Jersey Shore Pops in this patriotic show.
Making their debut with the orchestra is The Youth Opera of South Jersey. This group of young talented performers range from ages 9 to 18. The mission statement for the Youth Opera is simply “to provide the students with the proper way to sing and to give them an opportunity to practice and perform. This not-for-profit organization, founded by Nancy Fox, has been educating young people for the past seven years. Conductor of the orchestra, Gentille adds, “I am so excited to be able to collaborate with this talented group of young singers. They are simply fantastic. Liberace gave me an opportunity as a teenager I never forgot, and we hope to do the same for talented young New Jersey performers as well.”
Gentille began her career as a child protegy of both Roger Williams and Liberace. She now performs over 200 concerts a year around the world. She is a major headliner attraction on several luxury cruise lines including Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Oceania. Many reviewers have compared her to a female Victor Borge for her charismatic and humorous onstage persona.
The Jersey Shore pops is led by conductor and pianist Linda Gentille. The orchestra is the newest orchestra in the state and is gaining in popularity each season. One of the attractions of the orchestra is the popularity of the music director and conductor Gentille. Kay Aspell, managing director of the Middle Township Performing Arts Center states, “The Jersey Shore Pops has become a huge attraction here in Cape May County because of the outstanding shows produced and arranged by Gentille. The shows have grown each year and are now the most popular concert series we have ever hosted here at the PAC. Gentille is a charismatic entertainer and conductor who also arranges most of the music for the orchestra which sets her apart from the other orchestra leaders in the state.”
