Jersey Shore Pops to Attend Meeting in Objection

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Members of the Jersey Shore Pops Orchestra will be attending an upcoming council meeting to object to the City’s decision not to allow the Jersey Shore Pops to rent any facility in the city because they feel the orchestra provides competition to the Ocean City Pops.
The orchestra has tried for 2 years unsuccessfully to rent the Ocean City Music Pier, but the city continues to deny the rental. The Ocean City Pops has performed at the home theater of the Jersey Shore Pops the past 2 years with no objection from the orchestra. Dr. Nick Holland, president of the Jersey Shore Pops states, “The Jersey Shore Pops has never objected to the OC Pops performing at our home venue of the Middle Township Performing Arts Center when they give regularly yearly performances there. We see no reason that the city should not offer us the same courtesy and respect as an orchestra and Ocean City. There is room for more than one orchestra in the county and competition creates a healthy market and gives the public choices.”
Members of the Jersey Shore Pops and it’s president Dr. Nick Holland will be attending this meeting to speak to the Mayor and council on July 1, 12:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 3rd floor, 861 Asbury Ave.
If any of the public would like to join the Jersey Shore Pops in this meeting, please contact president Nick Holland at 609 628 4544 or email Nick@JerseyShorePops.org.
