Jersey Shore Pops Present Annual Memorial Weekend Concert with The Victory Belles

Linda Gentille and The Jersey Shore Pops are proud to present The “Music of The Glenn Miller Orchestra!” This high energy big band concert will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 7:00 PM at the historic Ocean City Music Pier. Joining the orchestra this year will be special guest artists, The Victory Belles.
The National WWII Museum’s Victory Belles are an elegant and charming vocal trio who travel the globe delighting audiences with their spirited performances, which feature dazzling costumes, audience interaction, and musical hits to include Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree, Chattanooga Choo Choo, God Bless America, and the Service Medley, all sung in rich, three-part harmony. The Victory Belles represent the patriotic fabric of World War II America in keeping the sentimental musical history of the 40s alive. They have performed at hundreds of military, veteran and civilian events around the world to include the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Ceremony, Ellis Island, USO Galas in Japan and Hawaii, The National Anthem at the Saints NFL football game, the USO Guam Six Star Salute, on board the USS WASP, and with several military bands across the country to include West Point. The Victory Belles are proud to serve as ambassadors of The National WWII Museum and are honored to salute our nation’s veterans in song!
This special Glenn Miller tribute show which will include all of Miller’s top hits. The pops will present the original Miller arrangements of “ In the Mood”, “String of Pearls,” “ Tuxedo Junction”, “ Pennsylvania 6500”, “ American Patrol”, “ Moonlight Serenade”, “ St. Louis Blues”, “ When Johnny Comes Marching Home”, “ Chattanooga Choo Choo”,” Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” plus some original arrangements in the style of Miller.
The Jersey Shore Pops is a big band orchestra with string section, modeled after the orchestras of the Frank Sinatra era which featured a string section along with the bid band sounds. The orchestra was founded by entertainer and conductor Linda Gentille in 2009. The orchestra features 25 of the finest New Jersey musicians either born or based in New Jersey. Many Philly Pops fans have become season ticket holders for the Jersey Shore Pops because of the reasonable ticket prices and great production value of the shows.
What has made the Jersey Shore Pops the most successful new big band orchestra in New Jersey is Gentille along with her unique on stage showmanship. As a major headliner, she has performed on stages around the world. Pops president Dr. Nick Holland sums it up:” Gentille’s unique musical style of conducting while performing amazing feats on the piano has made this a must see show in Cape May. Her unique and original orchestrations sets her apart from all the other pianist conductors in the nation.”
The individual tickets will range from $25 for balcony seating to $40 for VIP orchestra center seating. Tickets at the door will increase to $30 -$45 so advance purchases are encouraged to avoid long will call lines.
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The funds were administered by the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission, under the authority of the County Library Commission, for the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
