CREST HAVEN – Recently, the sixth annual Cape May County Technical High School Iron Pastry competition was held at Tech. Under Chef Robert Johnston’s instruction, Pastry/Baking Technology students competed in the Iron Pastry competition to create three items from various countries or regions with three mandatory ingredients consisting of butter, brown sugar and frozen apples.
The winning entries include: Gold-Gina Martino and Mark Gabriel, Around the World; Silver-Bobby Reese and Jamie Piergiovanni, Switzerland; Bronze with a tie– Montel Pitt, Pennsylvania Dutch/Fusion; and Kyle Timpson, Liz Farmer and post-secondary student Lyndsey Powers, Italy/ Mexico/Asia.
Jen Siciliano’s Hospitality Academy/Travel/Tourism Technology class hosted the event’s judging, from decor to guest management, and Jonathon Niemira’s Entertainment Production Technology students hosted the judging, while providing live music from the adjacent studio. Christopher Jones’ Communication Arts Technology students will produce a video feature.
