“How to Write a Friendly Letter” at the County Library July 16

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Saturday, July 16, 2011, the U.S. Postal Service is calling all kids who love to read and write, regardless of whether they are a Creative Reading Club member or not.
Come prepared with the name of your favorite author or illustrator at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, and join the Court House Branch of the Cape May County Library for a fun filled and educational event to learn “How to Write a Friendly Letter.” Get inspired by the professionals and let a Postmaster and a Librarian assist you on how to complete a friendly letter, address your envelope, post your letter with an official U.S. Postal Service’s Literary Arts series: Mark Twain stamp, and mail your letter; all in the comfort and convenience of your hometown library.
With this 27th stamp in the Literary Arts series, the U.S. Postal Service honors Mark Twain, the author of many beloved works including Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, widely considered one of the greatest novels in American literature. The Mark Twain stamp is being issued as a Forever® stamp. Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate. Mark Twain’s work captivates, entertains, and provokes 21st-century readers just as much as it did in the 19th and 20th centuries. Last year, on the centennial of his death, the first volume of Twain’s autobiography was finally released — and became an instant best-seller. With the 27th release in the Literary Arts series, the U.S. Postal Service celebrates the prolific author’s lasting impact.
The Cape May Point Postmaster, Melissa T. Lomax, and the Cape May County Library’s Head Children’s Librarian, Kellie Large, will be hosting this event to foster children’s love of letter writing and the literary arts. For more information on how you can participate, please call the Children’s Room at 609-463-6354.
The Court House Branch of the Cape May County Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, N.J. 08210.
