OCEAN CITY — Over 150 of America’s finest artisans will display and sell their work at the Christmas Arts and Crafts Festival on Nov. 13 and 14 in the Music Pier Auditorium, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace.
Visitors will be able to meet these talented men and women, watch some of them at work and have the opportunity to discuss the skills involved in creating popular one of a kind products.
“Craft designers and artists enjoy talking to the public because of the pride they take in every item,” notes JoAnne Schaut, who produces the show with her husband Norman.
Featured Artist will be Kerri Janto, a photographer who specializes in Ocean City scenes. She will show color and black and white prints of beach, boardwalk and numerous other colorful locations.
Of special interest will be her photographs of the present Ninth Street Causeway and its bridges that will be replaced next year by concrete super spans.
Jantos will also personalize photos of lifeguard stands, beach scenes, and homes with the customer’s name and address imprinted. These make ideal holiday greeting and note cards.
Guild artists will apply their imagination, skill and fine craftsmanship to creations ranging from custom made furniture and jewelry to hand made baskets and stained glass. Their holiday decorations and pottery are all made with lead free glazes.
Every offering in the Ocean City festival is authentically American, no imports are permitted.
A sampling of those exhibiting includes quilts and patchwork accessories by Gail Iverson, Hand Created Christmas Villages Houses by Karl Fey, Gold and Sterling Jewelry by Margie and Bill Lombard, Al Moeser’s Wooden Santas for your holiday house, Fused Glass by Jane Costanza, hand knitted hats, mittens, Christmas Stockings and hooked rugs by Martha Becker, hand painted feathers by Sue Brown plus an array of gourmet foods.
The Schaut’s exhib-itions have set new attendance records at the city’s historic auditorium by the sea. “Our festivals are among the few remaining retail events where environmentally conscious and safety minded shoppers can support American workers and purchase unique home made products at reasonable prices,” declares Schaut.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission is $3 with all profits supporting area charities including the Ocean City Food Cupboard, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
