CAPE MAY – After 13 wonderful years on the promenade in Cape May, Henry’s on the Beach has closed its doors for good. With the activities at Convention Hall now absent for three years, interest in the area has faded. The Beach Theatre is no longer attracting customers, and neighbors Tisha’s Fine Dining and The Oasis were also forced to leave the area. Despite their best efforts, Ed and Teresa Henry had no choice but to follow suite and close the iconic restaurant on the beach.
For fans of Henry’s on the Beach, however, all is not lost. Harpoon Henry’s on Beach Drive in North Cape May is opening for the season this weekend. Beginning Friday, April 15th at 4 p.m., North Cape May’s own tropical paradise will be serving dinner on Fridays and lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays before opening full time on June 3rd. With the weather warming up, Harpoon Henry’s is back just in time.
The menu offers classic American fare with a taste of the Keys. From burgers and sandwiches to seafood platters and steaks, there is something for everyone at Henry’s. A kid’s menu is available, as well as a huge sandbox to keep the little ones occupied. For the adults, the cabana bar is still serving your favorites including over 250 frozen drinks. Even the family pet has a place at Harpoon Henry’s, with dogs welcome on the outside deck.
The tropical atmosphere at Harpoon Henry’s is complimented by live music nightly. Ann Oswald kicks off the live entertainment schedule on Saturday, April 16th at 5pm. Michael James returns on April 23rd, followed by Beachcomber Bill on the 30th. Check out the Entertainment Grid here in the Herald weekly for the updated schedule throughout the summer. You can also see the entertainment lineup online at www.capemaycountyherald.com/ShoreGuide.
If you are eager to get out after the long cold winter, make the trip down to the bay for quality food, great entertainment, and a beautiful sunset view at Harpoon Henry’s. See a preview of their dinner menu at www.capemaycountyherald.com/harpoonhenrys.
