COURT HOUSE — Middle Township Performing Arts Center announced that tickets for the Glenn Miller Orchestra performance on Aug. 31 are now on sale and are available by phone or in person at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.
Now, over 55 years since the public first embraced the successful Miller Sound, both the legend and the music live on. The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world today. Still considered the greatest band of all time, its unique sound is loved by almost everybody.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra made a big impact right before and during the war. And it had more hit records in one year than anybody in the history of the recording industry. In fact, its recording of Chattanooga Choo-Choo earned the first Gold Record ever awarded to a performing artist.
The theme of the Glenn Miller Orchestra was (and still is) the beautiful Moonlight Serenade. Interesting enough, Glenn Miller originally wrote the music of the song himself. Miller’s orchestra and music have been heard around the world continuously since 1938.
The 19-member band continues to play many of the original Miller arrangements that keep exciting fans who have not heard them played for a while. Additionally, they are also playing more modern selections in the big-band style, carefully selecting only those newer tunes that lend themselves naturally to the Miller style and sound.
Individual tickets are on sale at $25 in advance, $30 at the door and a special $20 group rate for ticket purchases of 20 or more. The box office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Call 609-463-1924 for further information.
