Ghosts to return during Cape May’s Spring Festival?

By On Deck Staff

Cape May reached the height of its popularity in the Victorian Era, when people became fascinated by the spiritual world, ghosts, and psychics.
Today, many believe the old spirits have not left their favorite Victorian Cape May haunts.
Discover the “other side” of Cape May on tours and activities during Spring Festival, April 24-May 3, co-sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) and the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May.
Get into the “spirit” of spring with the Historic Haunts Combination Tour. Board a MAC trolley for a tour of some of Cape May’s regal Victorian residences, reputed to host more than the living.
Then take a guided tour of the historic (haunted?) Physick Estate at 1048 Washington St. with a discussion of Victorian spiritualism.
A sweet and “spirited” tour returns during Cape May’s Spring Festival, the Ghosts and Goodies Tour, which combines the Ghosts of Cape May Trolley Tour with a stop at the famous Mad Batter Restaurant, 19 Jackson St.
First, guides relate the paranormal findings of Ghost Writer Craig McManus as you wind through the gas-lit streets of Cape May. Then finish your tour with a delicious dessert at the Mad Batter Restaurant.
Ghosts are known to go bump in the night, setting the stage for the evening Ghosts of Cape May Trolley Tours.
Take a 45-minute evening ride through Cape May as a guide relates the paranormal findings of McManus.
Travel the ghostly path that leads to the Cape May Lighthouse on the Ghosts of the Lighthouse Trolley Tour.
Listen to ghost tales on the trolley, then, at the lighthouse, feel the presence of the spirits as you climb to the top (or stay below).
For information about MAC’s year-round schedule of tours, festivals and special events, call 609-884-5404 or 800-275-4278, or visit MAC’s website at capemaymac.org.
