CAPE MAY – Sept. is the best time to get outside in Cape May County.
Just because summer is over, the pace doesn’t slow at the New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May.
Harborside Chats resume at 6:00 p.m. Thursday on Sept. 19 when former mayor and amateur historian Bob Elwell gives a presentation on the true maritime history of Cape May. The following Thursday, Sept. 26, again at 6:00 p.m. Kathy Fallon, whose photography is currently on exhibit at the Saltwater Cafe, will be the featured speaker. An artist’s reception will be held in Ms. Fallon’s honor afterwards. Note, the Harborside Chats on Sept. 19 and 26 will be held at the Saltwater Cafe located at South Jersey Marina since the Nature Center’s education hall is being renovated. The Chats will return to the Nature Center on Thursday, Oct. 3 when the Jersey Cape Beekeepers make a return visit. This year, attendees will be able to view an actual hive in operation at the Center. Captain Todd Prestige, Commanding Officer of TRACEN Cape May has been tentatively scheduled to be the featured speaker on Thursday, Oct. 10. The Captain will detail the long military history of the Training Center at Cape May. Chats begin at 6:00 and are free; a donation is requested to help fund the 3rd phase of the Nature Center education hall renovation.
