CAPE MAY — People throughout the world have consumed tea for millennia, to soothe their spirits, enliven their day, or perhaps share a treasured moment of conversation with a loved one. Not only is tea the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water, it can be found in almost 80 percent of all U.S. households. It is the only beverage commonly served hot or iced, anytime, anywhere, for any occasion.
Find out more about tea, its taste and its fascinating history during a lecture and tea tasting sponsored by the Friends of the Physick Estate, an affinity group of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave.
All About Tea with Jessica Litt, the proprietor of House of Tea in Philadelphia, features a discussion of tea and its history, with an explanation of the five types of tea, along with tastings of select teas from The House of Tea, 720 S. 4th St., Philadelphia, Pa.
Admission is $8 for members of the Friends of the Physick Estate and $12 for non-members. Join the Friends group and save on this and future programs.
