By Press Release

CAPE MAY AIRPORT — Beginning June 9, Aviation Museum will host the first in a four part Free Historic Lecture Series with filmmaker Steve Yeager at 7 p.m. inside historic hangar #1.
Lecture attendees are invited to screen Yeager’s short film, “The Toy Soldier.”
Filmed in part at NASW, “The Toy Soldier” is based on a true story about Mr. Yeager’s uncle who died while serving in Germany on May 21, 1945 – two weeks after the end of WWII. (This film is intended for an adult audience due to coarse language)
Yeager is a native of Baltimore, MD and has been a part of the area’s film and theatre scene for over twenty-five years. He studied theatre at Towson University in Baltimore, directing at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and filmmaking at the Rockport, Maine Cinema Workshops.
Since 1984 he has worked in the film/video industry as a cinematographer, editor, producer, and director. His work has been featured in the television show America’s Most Wanted, where he produced and directed crime re-enactment segments, pilots for cable networks and independent feature films. In 1998, his film Divine Trash, won the Best Documentary Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
On June 16 at 7 p.m., NASW welcomes Commander Corry Juedeman Prestidge, USN (Ret). Prestidge, a career Naval Aviator, will be speaking to guests about her experiences in Naval Aviation including flight training, missions flown in the E-2C Hawkeye, and lessons learned as a woman in a traditionally male dominated environment.
On June 23 at 7 p.m., a tenured professor at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland, Darlene Spitzer-Antezana, PhD, will be speaking to NASW guests about women’s roles in WWII – specifically, the economic, social and gender related aspects of Rosie the Riveter. The discussion will include government public relations efforts in the campaigning of the aircraft industry.
On June 30 at the special time of 6 p.m. visit the aviation museum for an educational lecture with various experts that will discuss the latest technological accomplishments in unmanned aircraft systems (commonly called drones) and how they may benefit the public and change the future of aviation. Demonstrations of a drone inflight and 3-D printing’s place in the manufacturing of these aircrafts will be featured as well as a lecture by Adam Greco of Stockton University and Atlantic Cape Community College.
The lectures are free, however donations are appreciated.
The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport. For more information on the museum’s daily operations or special events visit the Hangar’s website www.usnasw.org.
