Four Art Shows to Appear at Middle PAC

By Sponsored Content

COURT HOUSE – The spotlight will shine on the artwork of more than 300 area residents during the next three months when the multi-purpose Performing Arts Center of Middle Township hosts four art shows.
Kay Aspell, managing director of The PAC, has announced that the exhibits in the lobby will continue until mid-June and will include the works of a wide range of artists from the young to senior citizens. Admission is free and the exhibits will be open to the public for viewing during weekdays and on nights there are performances at the PAC.
“It has been one of the missions of the founders of The PAC 20 years ago to make available a wide variety of the arts not only to the community but for the cultural benefit of the students here,” Aspell said. “These art exhibits fulfill one of those commitments. Many of the works on display are actually those of talented students in the Middle Township school system.”
The exhibits began on March 27 with winning paintings of youngsters from kindergarten to high school seniors in the annual New Jersey Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition of which the Wetlands Institute here is the official state site for entries and judging. A Junior Duck Stamp design has been likened to a term paper in which students use visual effects rather than verbal to show what they have learned in environmental science and habitat conservation.
The county’s cultural and heritage commission moves into The Performing Arts Center this month for judging of its 12th annual exhibit and contest of the National Arts Program. The winners works will be displayed until May 8. Last year 116 participants displayed 129 works of art.
Starting on May 12 for two weeks Middle Township High School will hold its annual Cultural Faire which will include displays of paintings by students among other cultural events. And beginning June 4 senior students will have their last chance to show what they have learned in the field of art at the high school when they exhibit their accomplishments for two weeks before graduation.
The Performing Arts Center is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive in Cape May Court House, one mile east of Exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking on the premises.
