Party themes will be featured in the Artistic Design Division of Ocean City’s 37th Annual Flower Show set for June 5-7 in the Music Pier auditorium, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace.
The Division will feature arrangements such as Winter Carnival, Luau, 4th of July, Chinese New Year, Bridal Shower Tea, Silver and Golden Anniversary and more.
The Luau Class is open to anyone 16 years or older who has never won a blue ribbon in any flower show. There is a special Class for youngsters 14 years and younger with a Halloween theme.
“This show has a category for everyone,” noted Kay Reilly, co chair of the Artistic Design Division. “You don’t have to be an experienced competitor to enter. There are categories for every level of skill.”
While the Artistic Design Division features arrangements, the Horticulture segment includes plants with categories for roses, perennials, cactus, window boxes, orchids, etc.
One of the longest running events of its kind on the East Coast, the exhibition is staged by the Garden Club of Ocean City.
“The Club works year around to make the event a success,” said Frank Leone, treasurer and driving force behind the show.
Entry is free to both the competitors and the public. Visitors may leave a donation to support the committee’s work.
Hours are 2 to 9 p.m., Fri., June 5, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat. June 6 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun., June 7.
