Find fall family fun in the Wildwoods

By On Deck Staff

Early fall in the Wildwoods offers great fun and entertainment for the entire family.
With some days warm enough to enjoy the Wildwoods free beaches, and evenings cool enough to enjoy the Boardwalk without breaking a sweat, the Wildwoods is a great vacation destination in the fall.
As always, the Wildwoods’ beautiful, white and sandy beaches remain free to enjoy during the autumn months.
And the Wildwoods’ Boardwalk offers a pure sensory overload with spectacular amusement piers open until mid-Oct.; interactive waterparks open until mid-Sept. carnival-style midway games; flashing arcades; and a myriad of shops and eateries.
The Boardwalk amusement piers are open full-time through Sept. 13 and on weekends through Oct. 11.
But even after the amusement piers close for the season, guests can still enjoy a day of kite flying, a stroll on the Boardwalk, a meal at one of the Boardwalk’s many eateries or great restaurants throughout the five-mile island, or a ride on the famous Wildwoods Sightseer Boardwalk Tram Car.
In addition to the Beach and Boardwalk, the Wildwoods also offer plenty of free events that everyone can enjoy.
Auto enthusiasts will enjoy any of the Wildwoods’ fall car shows featuring hot rods, street rods and good old-fashioned classics
The Roar to the Shore Motorcycle Rally also rolls into the Wildwoods this fall.
And if you’re looking for action, check out the Fall Thunder on the Sand Pro/Am Sanctioned Motocross Races, Thunder on the Beach Monster Truck Races and the Wildwoods Hydrofest Power Boat Races.
The Wildwoods have many fall festivals and parades, including the Irish Fall Festival, Sunset Lake Seafarers Celebration, Olde Time Italian Festival, and Seafood & Music Festival—all free to attend.
And fisherman can enjoy a series of fishing tournaments in the Wildwoods throughout the fall months, including the Great Fall Classic Surf Fishing Tournament and Anglesea Surf Anglers Surf Fishing Tournament.
All fishing tournaments require an entrance fee.
And finally, if you want to get away from it all and take a step back in time, enjoy the Wildwoods’ Annual Fabulous ‘50s Weekend, Oct. 16-18.
The weekend will feature a dance party, classic car show, a street fair with contests, food vendors, live music and entertainment, craft vendors and a Doo-Wop Bus tour for free.
The ‘50s Weekend will also boast a live concert featuring the Golden Boys of Bandstand: Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, and Fabian.
Tickets for the live concert are available at www.fabfifties.com or at 609-729-4000.
For more information about any of the events, visit wildwoodsnj.com or call 609-729-9000 or 800-WW-BY-SEA (800-992-9732).
