STONE HARBOR — Join the Borough of Stone Harbor as we continue to celebrate our centennial year with the return of the boat parade known as the “Festival of Lights” scheduled for Aug. 9, 2014.
“It’s wonderful to have this event return after all these years to celebrate our Centennial,” remarks Mayor Suzanne Walters.
All boat owners are welcome to decorate their boats and join the festivities. Boats queue up at 6:30 p.m. and parade begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor located at 9001 Sunset Drive. The parade will cruise Stone Harbor’s back bay basins returning once again to the Yacht Club where judging will occur followed by an after party.
All bayfront homeowners are encouraged to decorate their docks, decks and homes in celebration of the event. Pete Miner, General Manager of the Yacht Club “anticipates a fun, safe evening of boating, dining and dancing. We hope the tradition comes back to stay.”
Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated boat and dock. Winners will be announced at the final Centennial concert Aug. 12 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Dan Marro will join Linda Gentille & The Jersey Shore Pops in Sizzlin Seventies. The concert is on is held at the Water Tower Plaza, 95th Street and Second Avenue.
