COURT HOUSE – The 4-H Fair is a volunteer driven event chaired by members of the Cape May County 4-H Foundation. This year’s event is conducted under the leadership of Fair Co-Chairs John Webersinn, Ron Day and Ken Morey. For the first time, the Cape May County 4-H Foundation has offered corporate sponsorships to area businesses. Local businesses pledging $250 or more are featured on the reverse of the official 4-H Fair T-shirt. The shirts will be available for sale at the Fair, to be held July 18th, 19th and 20th. Proceeds will support Cape May County 4-H.
“We are so grateful to long time friends and supporters such as Steenland’s, Smeltzers, and Kindle Auto Plaza for stepping up to support this effort.” explains County Agent Julie Karavan. “It is especially gratifying to see our relationships in the community continue to grow to include businesses such as Willow Creek Winery and the West Cape May Business Association.”
The 4-H Fair is an annual showcase of youth held at the 4-H fairgrounds, 355 Courthouse – S. Dennis Road in Cape May Court House, NJ. The celebration features 4-H project displays, small animal and livestock shows and exhibits, live entertainment, horse shows, commercial exhibitors, a pet show, amusement rides, games, great food, and interesting and informative demonstrations. Wizard’s Festival of Fun Amusements is always a favorite with the kids, featuring clean and safe rides for the whole family.
The fair’s traditional, tasty barbecued chicken dinner will be served all three evenings of the fair from 5:00 til’ it’s gone by the Cape May County Board of Agriculture. Always a crowd favorite, Friday’s menu adds a choice of delicious filet of flounder or chicken. Bar-b-que diners will enjoy live entertainment on the main fair stage throughout the evening. The cost of the dinner is $12.50 for adults. Tickets are available prior to the fair at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension office, at 355 Court House – South Dennis Rd. in Cape May Court House and during the event on the 4-H Fairgrounds at the Bar-b-que Ticket Booth beginning at 4:00 p.m. each evening.
The public hours for the fair are noon to 9:00 p.m. each day. General admission to the fair is free.
There is also limited, premium parking available for a $5.00 donation in the Atlantic Cape Community College’s parking lot next door to the fairgrounds, at 355 Court House-S. Dennis Rd.
