Fab 50s moves inside due to weather

Scheduled outside festivities for the Wildwoods Fabulous ’50s Weekend, Friday, October 16 through Sunday, October 18, have been moved inside the Wildwoods Convention Center due to inclement weather.
All free live entertainment, contests and ceremonies will now be taking place in the Convention Center’s Starlight Ballroom. Due to the weather, the classic car show and all vendors have been canceled and will not be on hand during the Fabulous ’50s Celebration.
The festivities for the Fabulous ’50 Weekend start tonight, October 16, at 7 p.m. in the Wildwoods Convention Center with a Record Hop featuring the “Geator with the Heater,” Jerry Blavat. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the Record Hop is from 7-11 p.m. Admission to the Record Hop is $12 plus tax.
Festivities for Saturday, October 17, are set to include a special United States Postal Service Commemorative Stamp Unveiling Ceremony at noon and free live entertainment, beginning at 10:30 a.m., featuring Shake, Rattle & Soul and Remember The ’50s: A Tribute to the Drifters, The Platters and The Corvettes.
The Fabulous ’50s bingo will still take place at the American Legion Hall, located at 4200 Atlantic Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The Wildwoods’ Doo-Wop Experience Museum, located at Ocean Avenue between Burk and Montgomery Avenues, will be open throughout the weekend, and, at this time, the Doo-Wop Back-to-the-’50s Bus Tour is still scheduled to be running. Tickets to for the bus tour are $12 and will be available at the Doo-Wop Experience Museum.
Limited tickets are still available for the Fabulous ’50s concert in the Oceanfront Arena inside of the Wildwoods Convention Center featuring Dick Fox’s Golden Boys starring Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell. The concert is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets to the show are $45 per person. Tickets are available through the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce. Tickets may be available at the Wildwoods Convention Center Box Office the day of the concert. For more information and tickets, call 609-729-4000 or visit www.gwcoc.com.
Free live entertainment scheduled from noon-3 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, has also been moved into the Starlight Ballroom in the Wildwoods Convention Center.
