CLERMONT — The Madd Potters’ Studio at the Woodland Village Shoppes on Route 9 here is sponsoring an Empty Bowl Soup Sampling event on Oct. 16 from noon to 3 p.m.
For a $10 donation you can purchase a unique one of a kind bowl and enjoy some soup. Proceeds benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey/Southern Branch which serves those in need in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and southern Burlington counties and the Empty Bowls organization.
Local restaurants, donating soup for tasting is Congress Hall, Oyster Bay, Molino at Johnny Tomatoes, Karen and Rei’s, Island Grill, Stone Harbor Golf Club, Sean’s, Sand Barrens, Westy’s, The Lobster House, Harbor View, Depot Market and The Mad Batter . Call 609-463-9099 for more information.
“We learned that more people than ever before in the history of The Community FoodBank of New Jersey/Southern Branch are food insecure and we wanted to help,” said Amanda Leipert co-owner of The Madd Potters’ Studio. “So we combined our love of making pottery with something that can help those in need.”
According to Feeding America one is six American’s struggle with hunger issues. In 2009 the local foodbank distributed a record 5.7 million pounds of food, a 36% increase over the previous year. Unfortunately, the need continues to edge upward. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated.
