Emlen Physick Estate to Host Full Moon Ghost Hunts

CAPE MAY – Have you ever heard an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) or seen an orb? Have you ever seen the full moon from atop the Cape May Lighthouse?
Use the equipment the professional ghost-hunting enthusiasts use and explore Cape May’s “other side” this summer at the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., and the Cherry House, a private home built in 1849, during ghost hunting events sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). Add to the thrill of ghost exploration by choosing an evening under the light of the full moon, where the deepened shadows “awaken” the spirits and heighten the excitement.
As the sun sets and the full moon rises, Cape May’s other side begins to stir. Experience Cape May’s original haunted house, the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, after dark like never before during a Ghost 101 Investigation. Ghost-One, a paranormal research team based in Pennsylvania, has done extensive investigations at the Physick Estate and brings its expertise and equipment and gives you an opportunity to experience one of their ghost hunts up close. Try your hand using some of their investigating tools. Attempt to capture EVPs as you search different rooms inside the Physick Estate. Afterwards, join your fellow ghost hunters at the Carriage House Café & Tearoom located on the grounds of the Physick Estate over dessert to discuss your findings. Tickets are $30 per person and each tour is limited to 50 people. With the added intensity of the light of the full moon, join with us for a Full Moon Ghost Hunt with Ghost-One, offered July 12 at 7:45 p.m. Another Ghost 101 Investigation is offered at Sept. 6 at 7:45 p.m.
The Cherry House has been the subject of numerous paranormal experiences. Tour this beautiful private home, built in 1849 in the Federal style, situated on one of Cape May’s oldest residential streets during the Cherry House Haunting Tales & Investigation Tour. Hear the results of paranormal investigations by Ghost-One and psychic Craig McManus, related by owners Beth and Frank Acker, on this guided tour. Hear stories of supernatural happenings witnessed in the house. Tour-goers can bring their own recorders. Some equipment will be available for use. The tour is offered on Thursdays, July 10 through Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. and is limited to 12 people per evening. Admission is $10 per adult; $10 for children (ages 3-12).
For those who appreciate the full moon for its celestial beauty, a climb up the Cape May Lighthouse during a full moon is an otherworldly experience that will inspire.
The Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse invite you to join them on Lighthouse Full Moon Climbs. Let the light of the full moon guide you up the 199 steps of the Cape May Lighthouse to the starry top. Savor the beauty of the night sky at the top of this 1859 beacon. Lighthouse Full Moon Climbs are offered July 12, Sept. 8 and Oct. 8, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Lighthouse is located in Cape May Point State Park, Lower Township. Tower admission is free for Friends members. Admission for non-members is $8 for adults and $3 for children (ages 3-12). Non-members who join the group at the event will get free admission to the lighthouse climb and to future Friends’ events. Admission to the Visitors’ Orientation Center and the ground floor of the Lighthouse is free.
