Eco Fair at Wheatonarts May 4 – A Free Community Day

MILLVILLE, NJ – Visitors to the Eco Fair at WheatonArts on May 4 enjoy free admission to the day’s activities, demonstrations and entertainment. This “Community Day” is produced in partnership with the Cumberland County Improvement Authority and features eco-friendly businesses, environmental leaders and educators. Visitors will learn how to protect the environment and practice eco-friendly living.
The environmentally minded vendors and community organizations include: Atlantic County Utilities Authority; American Vegan Society; Americorps NJ Watershed Ambassador; Creating Health, LLC; Cumberland Air Solutions; Ava Anderson Non-Toxic; Dark Woods Soap Company; Granite Transformations; Happy Valley Berry Farm; Krazee Krayons; Deppen Wood Products; Cumberland County Improvement Authority; Mid-Atlantic Systems of DPN, Inc.; Al & Sam’s Canoe, Boat and Kayak Rentals & Sales; Ole Shep’s Honey; Dark Woods Soap Company; Cumberland County SPCA; Tuckerton Seaport; Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing; Viridian Energy; and Jewel In The Lotus Designs.
The Cumberland County Master Gardeners will offer a wide variety of native plants, shrubs, herbs, tomato plants and gardening items for sale. Their Children’s Activity Table is based on the theme “This Place Is For The Birds.” Children will explore the wonder of birds through several activities. The Butterfly Tent offers children the opportunity to experience the wonder of butterflies.
The Glass Studio artists will present, Going Green With Glass, during the special demonstrations at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. They will explain how they recycle old glass to create new pieces.
Several eco-friendly crafts for children will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entertainer and magician, Bill Kerwood, will combine comedy and magic to entertain audiences, while educating and motivating people to recycle. The group, Package Goods Orchestra, from Galloway Township, NJ, will entertain visitors to the Eco Fair from 12 noon to 4 p.m. An assortment of food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Sweets Suite Bake Shoppe Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a menu of fresh salads, made-to-order sandwiches, cupcakes, muffins, scones, ice cream and beverages.
WheatonArts is home to the Museum of American Glass, the Creative Glass Center of America International Fellowship Program, the Education/Folklife Center, Artist Studios and award winning museum stores. In addition to daily glass blowing and craft demonstrations, WheatonArts features special exhibitions, programs, workshops, performances and several weekend festivals throughout the year. Shopping and strolling is free except during outside special events.
WheatonArts is open Tues. through Sun., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April through December. Open Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission: Adults $10.00, $9.00 Senior Adults and $7.00 Students. Children five and under are free. Free to shop and stroll except during outdoor special events.
