Dr. John Curtis Leads the John Walter Cape Community Band

COURT HOUSE – The John Walter Cape Community Band, is pleased to announce that Dr. John Curtis has joined the organization as Music Director. Dr. Curtis pursued an active career as a pianist, organist, and accompanist in the Boston area where he also conducted several choir groups. Dr. Curtis has maintained an active career as a performer, teacher, accompanist, and church musician in the Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Wilkes-Barre (PA) and southern New Jersey areas. He has a Masters degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and earned a Doctoral degree in Choral Conducting from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Curtis and his wife, Judy Ann Curtis, are the owners of Musikhaus Studio ( www.MusikhausNJ.com … 609 536-8379) in Cape May Court House where they teach private piano and voice lessons.
Since 1996, the John Walter Cape Community Band has been performing and entertaining at private and public events throughout Southern New Jersey. Named for its founder Mr. John Walter, former musical director of the Whitehall School District, the Band is comprised of volunteer musicians of various ages and skill levels who have one thing in common — a love of playing concert band music to entertain others. Performing a variety of musical styles including marches, Broadway and movie show tunes, classical music, pop tunes, and jazz, the John Walter Cape Community Band welcomes new members.
