Dads Enjoy Free Admission to Cape May Lighthouse and World War II Lookout Tower

CAPE MAY – Dads are admitted free with a paid child admission at two of Cape May’s historic sites, the Cape May Lighthouse and the World War II Lookout Tower, on Fathers’s Day, Sunday, June 16, courtesy of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).
Dads climb the 199 steps to the top of the beautiful Cape May Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park in Lower Township for free on Father’s Day. This majestic beacon has guided mariners along the New Jersey shoreline since 1859 and been open for public climbs since 1988. Climb to the watch gallery for a panoramic view of the Jersey Cape and Atlantic Ocean. For those who choose not to climb, the Oil House contains a fully-accessible Visitors’ Orientation Center and a Museum Shop stocked with maritime accessories and lighthouse memorabilia. Admission to the Visitors’ Orientation Center and the ground floor of the Lighthouse is free. Adult admission to climb the tower is $7; children (ages 3-12) are $3. Dads climb free with one $3 child admission on Sunday, June 16. The Cape May Lighthouse is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Father’s Day.
Dads also enjoy free admission to the World War II Lookout Tower Museum and Memorial (Fire Control Tower No. 23) on Father’s Day. Fire Control Tower No. 23 on Sunset Boulevard is New Jersey’s last freestanding World War II tower, part of the immense Harbor Defense of the Delaware system known as Fort Miles. Visitors can climb to the sixth floor spotting gallery while reliving the homeland defense efforts during World War II. The ground floor of the tower is fully accessible. Admission is $5 for adults with up to two children (ages 3-12) admitted free with each adult admission ($2 each additional child). Dads climb free with one $2 child admission on Sunday, June 16. The World War II Lookout Tower is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Father’s Day.
The Cape May Lighthouse and the World War II Lookout Tower are two of three historic sites maintained and operated by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).
