County Museum Plans Spring Lecture Series

By Sponsored Content

COURT HOUSE – The 2013 Spring Lecture Series at the Cape May County Museum will be all about the music. Join the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities’ Rich Chiemengo as he presents “Music, Music, Music.” Beginning with the Victorians through the Rock ‘n’ Roll era, learn the history of American music.
On April 17, Rich will discuss the Victorian’s fascination with the spiritual and supernatural, and its influence on the music of the era. On April 24, John Philip Sousa will visit and discuss his life, his time in Cape May and his rousing patriotic music. May 1 features the music of World War II and the Big Band era. Learn about the music that was the beginning of modern American musical work. And finally on May 8, Doo Wop and Rock ‘n’ Roll!
Come relive the music of our youth, the music that dismayed parents all across America when it began.
Join us for four Wednesdays as we explore our musical past. All lectures begin at 7 pm and are free and open to the public. The Cape May County Museum is located at 504 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House. For more information, visit www.cmcmuseum.org or call 609-465-3535.
