County Library Honors Women in the Military

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Women in the Military: Willing, Able, and Essential” presented in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard, Wildwood Historical Society, Cape May County Division of Cultural and Heritage, & Cape May County Library. An exhibition will be on display at the Main Branch Library located at 30 W. Mechanic St in Cape May Court House through the month of March.
Complimenting the exhibit, the library will be holding three screenings of the film Women in the Military: Willing, Able, Essential at the following times and places:
• Cape May City branch on March 4th at 6pm.*
• Cape May Court House branch on March 7th at 7pm
• Cape May City branch on March 27th at 6pm.*
* Registration is required for the Cape May City screenings.
Come celebrate Women’s History Month by discovering how women are integral to the past, present, and future success of the United States Military. Learn about the contributions women, particularly those from Cape May County and New Jersey, have made to the Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force by visiting Cape May County Library’s exhibit “Women in the Military: Willing, Able, Essential.” Housed at the Cape May Court House branch, the exhibit features the stories and accomplishments of female military pioneers such as Wildwood’s Captain Joy Bright Hancock, Coast Guard Training Center of Cape May’s Commanding Officer Sally Brice-O’Hara, and Morristown’s Colonel Ruth Cheney Streeter, as well as other important military female “firsts.”
Seating is limited; therefore registration is required for the Cape May City screenings. Registration is not required for Cape May Court House screening. For additional information and to register please call 463-6386 or visit online at www.cmclibrary.org.
