County Culture and Heritage Commission Announces the 2014 National Arts Program Winners for Cape May County

COURT HOUSE – Peter J. Bosak PhD, Superintendent, Cape May County Department of Mosquito Control won Best of Show in the 2014 National Arts Program (NAP) for Cape May County. Bosak’s sculpture, “Too Close to the Sun”, also won first place in the Intermediate Division. The Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission presented the awards during the opening of the exhibit on Nov. 12 at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center (PAC), 1 Penkethman Way, Court House. The Thirteenth Annual Exhibit and Awards of NAP for Cape May County, which includes 120 works of art submitted by 75 local artists, will remain on display through Dec. 3.
The NAP art show is juried and all artwork entered under the Program’s Rules of Exhibit are displayed in five classifications; Amateur, Intermediate, Professional, Youth 12 years and under and Teen 13-18 years.
The winners of the 2014 National Arts Program are:
Amateur Division:
1st Place – Donna Gallop, “Desolate”
2nd Place – Dolores Gallop, “Remington”
3rd Place – Leanne Scheff, “Colorado View”
Intermediate Division:
1st Place – Peter Bosak, “Too Close to the Sun”
2nd Place – Robin Goldy, “Coprolite”
3rd Place – Joanne Killian, “Beautiful Day”
Professional Division:
1st Place – Valerie Waywell Peirson, “Bebe Bleu”
2nd Place – Kathleen Nichols, “Dragonfly Reflection”
3rd Place – Lisa Ferraro, “Snow Wave”
Teen Division:
1st Place – Avianna Heissler, “Sunflower Close Up”
2nd Place – Sophie Peters, “Calder Sculpture”
3rd Place – Felicia Betts, “Morning Breaks”
Youth Division:
1st Place – Connor Blasberg, “Rough Seas”
2nd Place – Alexandra Blasberg, “Dragonfly”
3rd Place – Lily Taylor, “Spider & Fly”
The program is designed to give individuals a forum to showcase and develop their talents. The broad aim of the program is to increase self-confidence by encouraging the creative talents of the participants and give them an opportunity to have their work displayed in a professional art gallery setting. In Cape May County, eligible participants included county government employees and family members, Cape Regional Medical Center employees or volunteers and Cape May County Heritage Round Table arts and history group members. Also, students from all our county school districts were eligible to participate in the program.
