NORTH CAPE MAY — Conifer Village, a senior apartment building located in North Cape May, hosted an Iron Chef Challenge to local nursing homes and assisted livings. March 20, three chefs from Genesis Healthcare centers and one chef from Emeritus Senior Living went head to head in a crab cake contest. Emeritus of Cape May, North Cape Center, Victoria Commons and Victoria Manor all had entries in the contest.
About 35 seniors attended the challenge while four residents of Conifer Village tasted and judged the entries. All attendees had a great opportunity to taste each of the samplings. Although the judges had a difficult time choosing a winner, they had to choose their favorite crabcake.
Victoria Commons Chef, Donald Donaldson placed first and the runner up was Emeritus Senior Living Chef Greg Andrews. Both winners received a certificate to hang in their community as well as bragging rights.
The chefs, as well as the residents of Conifer Village, look forward to the next Iron Chef contest in the summer.
