Congress Hall Hosts Fantastic Fall Events for the Whole Family

By Sponsored Content

CAPE MAY – Just because summer is over doesn’t mean it’s time to pack up and head home. Congress Hall in Cape May is a year-round destination, and some of the most fun to be had is in the fall. This autumn Congress Hall is hosting two remarkable events: TEDx Cape May and the Exit 0 International Jazz Festival.
First on the calendar for fall is TEDx Cape May on Oct. 20. In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TEDx returns to Cape May this year at Convention Hall for a full day of diverse performances and presentations under the provocative theme: “Nature & Nurture.” The TEDx Cape May program features more than 12 outstanding artists, writers, and social entrepreneurs, as well as a chef, musician, scientist, and educator. In addition to the added TEDTalk videos, attendees receive a gourmet boxed “shoobie” lunch and an evening open bar reception at Congress Hall. For the full program and registration, go to TEDxCapeMay.com.
As the official host hotel, Congress Hall is proud to sponsor the 2013 Exit Zero International Jazz Festival Nov. 8–10. The Festival will host well over 100 international touring musicians, including Grammy Award-winners, living legends, NEA Jazz Masters, international musicians and home-grown talent too. The Boiler Room at Congress Hall will feature sensational acts on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Lakecia Benjamin hits the stage at 9 p.m., performing material from her unconventional soul/funk album, RETOX. Robin McKelle & The Flytones will perform a contemporary blend of soul and rhythm & blues and mostly original tracks on Saturday at 9 p.m.
Get the most of the Jazz Festival weekend with the VIP Duke’s Pass at Congress Hall, the Star Inn, the Virginia Hotel or the Sandpiper. Packages include:
• Overnight Accommodations
• Breakfast each morning
• 2 VIP Reserved table seats for Festival Headline Concerts at Cape May Convention Hall
• 2 Weekend Festival Club Passes into all participating club venues throughout the Festival weekend.
Congress Hall’s sister property, The Virginia Hotel, is joining in on the jazz festivities by hosting a very special Jazz Night at The Ebbitt Room on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. Vocalist Charenee Wade joins Aaron Diehl for this special event. The Brooklyn born Wade draws her inspiration from none other than Sarah Vaughan, and the 2011 Cole Porter Fellow, Aaron Diehl, brings a deep sense of swing to his music. Seating is limited for this exclusive event and tickets are $65 per person, which includes the show and a three-course pre-fixe menu. For more information please call the Virginia Hotel at 609-884-5700.
