By Press Release

OCEAN CITY — A total of $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to best decorated boats and homes in the city’s 56th annual Night In Venice celebration set for Sat., July 24 on the Bay starting 7:30 p.m.
Cash prizes of $1,000 each will be awarded to the best decorated boat and home. Three $500 prizes will be awarded to runners up in each category. All boat participants will be presented $50 cash cards to enhance their decorations. Free photos of boats in the parade will be given to all boating participants.
Non-cash prizes will be awarded in all boat and home categories. Commemorative mugs will be given to all who enter the boat and home categories.
Cash incentives are offered in an effort to keep the decorative quality of the event high. Thousands watch the parade from bay front homes and grand stands erected at street ends.
Night In Venice raises thousands of dollars for area charities with its Miss Night In Venice Pageant. The young ladies who compete solicit funds through collection boxes placed in stores and personal contact.
The public can participate by placing “money votes” at displays on the board-walk and downtown.
Organizations that benefit this year are the Ocean City After Prom, the Hero Foundation for designated drivers, nurse’s scholarships and the Sunshine Foun-dation.
