COURT HOUSE — Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation will host “An Evening in Cape May Wine Country” at the Cape May Winery on Oct. 18, 2013 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Members of the committee are planning a fun filled evening of wine tasting, fine foods catered by the Washington Inn, music by local musicians, a silent auction and an opportunity to hear about the Thomas & Claire Brodesser, Jr. Cancer Center at Cape Regional Medical Center. All proceeds for the evening will be designated for the Cancer Center Capital Campaign that has raised $3.5 million towards a $5.0 million goal.
“The community is invited to attend and support the Brodesser Cancer Center at Cape Regional Medical Center,” stated Arlene MacDonald, Chairman of the Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation. “The cancer center provides the most advanced technology for radiation therapy in the fight against cancer, right here in Cape May County. We are now treating prostate cancer in five treatments versus the standard 40 treatments. We hope you will join us on October 18th for a relaxing evening at the Cape May Winery.”
Cape May County has the highest cancer rate in the State of New Jersey. Sixteen new patients are diagnosed each week. The Varian TrueBeam at Cape Regional’s Brodesser Cancer Center was installed in April, 2012, and is now treating prostate cancer in five visits versus the standard 40 visits and certain lung cancers in three visits versus the standard 35 visits. The Varian TrueBeam is the most advanced radiation therapy technology in Cape May County.
Members of the organizing committee include Ellen Kravet Burke, Anne Burrows, Toby Craig, Nate Doughty, Anita deSatnick, Tracey DuFault, Joyce Gould, Arlene MacDonald, Henry Obergfell, and Barbara St. Claire. “A special thanks to the committee, Toby Craig and the Craig Family Businesses for hosting this special evening to benefit the Brodesser Cancer Center at Cape Regional Medical Center,” stated Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, President and CEO at Cape Regional Medical Center.
