Carriage House Gallery Exhibit: “Cape May Ablaze” From the pages of “The First Resort.” Author Ben Miller brings alive 150 years of dramatic fires that have shaped Cape May’s history. At the Carriage House Gallery on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. Admission is free. Through Oct. 14. Open daily; times vary. East Lynne Theater Company presents “The First Fifty Years”: This comedy/drama charts the ups and downs of a married couple in seven scenes from 1872, seven years after the end of the Civil War, to their golden anniversary at the beginning of the Roaring ’20s, in 1922. East Lynne Theater Company’s artistic director tracked down the only known script of this forgotten gem at the Billy Rose Collection at Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts in NYC. Wednesdays through Saturdays, June 11-July 19 at 8:30 p.m. (no show on July 4; additional show on July 6). Cape May Stage presents “Moon Over Buffalo”: In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, Ken Ludwig’s hilarious Moon Over Buffalo is a zany, slapstick, backstage antics-driven farce as actors’ George and Charlotte Hay realize their big chance to move from Buffalo theater to Hollywood movies. Dinner & Fireworks: New in 2014! Here’s an exclusive chance to see an Independence Day celebration from the best vantage point of all: atop the Cape May Lighthouse. Participants will be picked up by MAC’s trolley at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth and taken to the Red Store in Cape May Point for a delicious, seasonal, five-course dinner prepared by Chef Lucas Manteca. After dinner, board the trolley for a short ride to Cape May Lighthouse, where you will climb to the top to watch the fireworks from the watch gallery. Guardians of the Cape Trolley Tour: A narrated tour of the beachfront, east of Madison Avenue to the Coast Guard Base where the trolley will continue with a tour of the only USCG training facility in the United States. Trolley will take passengers to the Sunset Parade of the entire battalion of recruits. Following the Sunset Parade, the trolley will shuttle back to the trolley stop. Cape May Stage Broadway Series presents Heather MacRae in “Songs for My Father”: Described by The New York Post as having a “most appealing, warmly human, unforced quality,” Heather MacRae comes to Cape May Stage with “Songs for My Father”. A tribute to her father, Broadway actor Gordon MacRae, “Songs for My Father” includes many songs from his best-known roles in the musical films of Oklahoma! and Carousel. Tickets $50. Full Moon Ghost Hunt with Ghost-One: Ghost-One, a paranormal research team based in Pennsylvania, has done extensive investigations at the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate and returns for an opportunity to experience one of their ghost hunts up close. Try your hand using some of their investigating tools. Attempt to capture EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) as you search different rooms inside the Physick Estate. Afterwards, join your fellow ghost hunters at the Carriage House Café & Tearoom located on the grounds of the Physick Estate over dessert to discuss your findings. Lighthouse Full Moon Climb: The Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse invite you to the full moon climb. Take advantage of the light of the full moon and let it guide you up the 199 stairs to the starry top. The Lighthouse is located in Cape May Point State Park, Lower Township. Tower admission is free for “Friends” members. July 12, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Non-members price is $8 for adults, $3 for children (ages 3-12). East Lynne Theater presents “Zorro!” In 1919, the character of “Zorro” first appeared in The Curse of Capistrano. Written by Johnston McCulley, it was a serialized novel in “All-Story Weekly” magazine. After the success of Douglas Fairbank’s silent film, it was re-issued under the title The Mark of Zorro. Beachcombing at the Cove: A naturalist from the Nature Center of Cape May helps you explore the ocean beach and dunes of the Cove. Behind the Walls & Under the Crawls Trolley Tour: Finally! A tour for those who want to know, “How’d they DO that?” Cape May has one of the largest concentrations of 19th century wood frame structures (over 600) in the United States. Take a look at this National Historic Landmark city from a builder’s perspective; explore the technological advances of the era and learn how things really worked on this one-hour guided trolley tour. World War II Tower Lookout Museum and Memorial: (Fire Control Tower No. 23) A Museum and Memorial. Fire Control Tower No. 23 on Sunset Boulevard is New Jersey’s last freestanding World War II tower, part of the immense Harbor Defense of the Delaware system known as Fort Miles.
