Cape May Stage’s Resident Intern Company Presents ‘Almost Love’

By Sponsored Content

CAPE MAY – Cape May Stage is bringing the love back to your summer nights. In a special limited production, the Resident Intern Company of Cape May Stage proudly presents Almost Love, a series of one-acts from Almost, Maine and LOVE/SICK by John Cariani. Almost, Maine paints a whimsical portrait of a small rural Maine town and the love lives of its residents. LOVE/SICK, Cariani’s newest work, navigates the same issues of love and romance, but from a suburban and slightly darker perspective.
Taking scenes from each of these two shows, Almost Love creates a unique depiction of love and romance – perfect for the couple looking for a romantic night out. “His premises are silly, but they play out in a surprisingly poignant way,” explains Ben Ferber, who made the selection of the one-acts. Ferber serves as the director of this production, in addition to his role as the Directing Resident of the Resident Intern Company.
The Resident Intern Company became part of Cape May Stage this year through Managing Director, Jon Wojciechowski, Jr. Unlike previous years, the Intern Company is provided with housing and will be in residence at Cape May Stage for the full season. Comprised of eight current college students and graduates of different specialties in the theatre arts, the Intern Company provides valuable hands on experience in a professional environment, most notably the opportunity to mount this limited engagement production.
A special non-Equity production, Almost Love features a great selection of young talent. One member of the Intern Company, Casey Oakes will move from behind the scenes as a Stage Management Intern to perform in this selection of one-acts. The cast is rounded out by two of Cape May Stage’s past interns, Katie O’Neill and Sophia Barrett, and local talent, Zak La Torre and Iraisa Ann Reilly.
