Cape May Stage to Host ‘Silver Anniversary Masked Ball’

By Press Release

Cape May — Join us for an evening full of glamour and intrigue. Cape May Stage celebrates its 25th Anniversary with A Silver Anniversary Masked Ball– an event where everyone can be anyone and nothing is what is seems. Be whisked away into the stuff of fairy tales for an evening of music, dancing, and dinner in the famous ballroom at Congress Hall on Sun., June 23 at 5:30 p.m.
Begin your evening with a cocktail hour on the gorgeous Veranda at Congress Hall, accompanied by delightful hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Then the festivities move inside, where you will dine on a sumptuous three-course dinner, while being sure to take advantage of the well-stocked cash bar. ‘Purple Reign,’ a six-piece band from Philadelphia, will provide the evening’s music with their “kickin’ rhythm section, smokin’ horns, and the best vocals on the east coast.” You won’t be able to keep your feet from tapping along to this lively music and, before you know it, you’ll have danced the night away.
But that’s not all! To top off this already spectacular evening, Bill “Yogi” Kurtz will be hosting a live auction featuring a number of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. For those inclined towards the culinary arts, sink your teeth into a cooking class and four-course dinner for six, complete with wine pairings. For the daredevils, get a thrill from bidding on a day at the racetrack with high performance driving lessons and a chance to ride shotgun as Rick White speeds through the challenging Thunderbolt track in his 997-GT3. For the more glamorous, a decadent five-course meal, prepared by award-winning chefs from around the world, can be enjoyed at the James Beard House in New York City.
For those whose hearts belong to the theatre, the opportunities for stardom abound. Enjoy a gourmet lunch for four with Tony-nominee Ron Raines at Patsy’s in New York City or get the producer treatment and meet with Broadway producers Harriet Levy and Kate Hathaway at The Russian Tea Room before enjoying a performance of their current show “Ann: An Affectionate Portrait of Ann Richards,” starring Emmy-winner Holland Taylor, from the best seats in the house. But the big ticket item for the Broadway enthusiast is sure to be the incredible prize of two tickets to the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, accompanied by a star-worthy dinner and an overnight stay in Manhattan’s premiere luxury hotel, The Waldorf-Astoria.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there. In addition to the heart-pounding rush of bidding at a live auction, put your fate in someone else’s hands with the raffle drawing for the “The Bermuda Dream.” The winner of this island escape will experience a relaxing seven-day, seven-night stay at the Luxurious Reefs Club in Bermuda. A limited number of raffle tickets are available so be sure to get them early before this amazing getaway is out of your reach!
One thing, however, is for certain: this event is not one to be missed. Whether you come for the delicious food, thrilling auction, or to dance the night away, Cape May Stage’s Masked Ball will be a night to remember. Treat yourself to this black tie (optional) occasion and don’t forget to unleash your inner creativity and come wearing a mask of your own creation — the best mask will win!
The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. and does not stop until the final dance at 10 p.m. Tickets are $150 and all proceeds benefit the mission of Cape May Stage in providing artistic excellence, arts education and outreach programming to the residents and visitors of Cape May. Cape May Stage is a non-profit, professional Equity theatre celebrating 25 years as a part of the Cape May community. Visit capemaystage.org or call (609) 770-8311 for tickets and information.
