Cape May Stage to Host ‘Shakes-Beer’ Event

By Sponsored Content

CAPE MAY – Friends, Romans, Countrymen – let’s drink some beers! Join Cape May Stage and the Cape May Brewing Company for Shakes-Beer, the ‘wurst’ event in town. Come Oct. 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the courtyard of the Robert Shackleton Playhouse on the corner of Bank and Lafayette Streets in downtown Cape May for a celebration of beers, brats and the bard.
Enjoy ‘the taming of the brew’ when you sip from your commemorative ‘Shakes-Beer’ themed pint glass. Feast upon delicacies like ‘ham-lets,’ ‘mac-beef,’ and ‘Julius Caesar salad,’ while jamming along to seasonal musical stylings. Get your kicks from playing the backyard classic cornhole, or be a little goofy as you try to ‘pin the brat on the bard.’ This is no ‘midsummer night’s dream’ – this event is for real!
Plus go ‘measure for measure’ when bidding on a very special, surprise auction item. Or if you don’t feel like experiencing ‘love’s labour’s lost’ take a chance on winning two custom bicycles from Zippy’s bikes, decked out to match your favorite Cape May Brewing Co. beer. All and all it’s guaranteed that this won’t just be ‘much ado about nothing.’
In fact, by the end of it all you may even just feel like ‘King Beer.’
The celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. Oct. 5 in the courtyard of the Robert Shackleton Playhouse. Tickets are $40 and include a commemorative pint glass and one free fill. Or upgrade your ticket and see that day’s matinee performance of Other Desert Cities for $25 more. Proceeds from ‘Shakes-Beer’ support the ongoing artistic, cultural, and education programs at Cape May Stage – a non-profit company that has been producing Equity theatre in Cape May for the past 25 years. Reservations requested by Oct. 1. Call (609) 770-8311 or visit capemaystage.org for tickets and more information.
