CAPE MAY – Cape May Stage, South Jersey’s premier Equity theatre is thrilled to welcome vocalist, actor, and author Adam Wade as he performs his tribute Nat King Cole Remembered. Join Wade in a journey through song on Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. as he brings a long-gone era of music back to life.
Wade’s career began in the 1960s as a singer when he attained the honor of having three songs in the “Top Ten” of Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart. His career then turned to acting in the 1970s where he appeared in films such as Shaft and Gordon’s War. He also appeared on a number of notable television programs, including Hill Street Blues, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Sons, and made appearances on daytime soap operas like As the World Turns.
Adam Wade also has the great distinction of being the first African American game show host. He earned this title in 1975 when he hosted the short-lived CBS game show, Musical Chairs, before he switched his career sights over to the theatre.
In Nat King Cole Remembered, Wade croons audiences through some of Cole’s most treasured tunes, including “Unforgettable,” “Route 66,” and “Besame Mucho.” This delightful revue will take you on a charming journey through beloved music, in homage to a legendary performer Wade can only say he is humbled to present.
Nat King Cole Remembered is part of Cape May Stage’s acclaimed Second Stage Series. This enchanting performance will take play Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse on the corner of Lafayette and Banks Street in downtown Cape May. Tickets are $25. Call (609) 770-8311 for information and reservations or visit the theatre’s website at www.capemaystage.org.
