CAPE MAY – Cape May Stage, as part of its commitment to producing quality original theatre, is proud to announce another world premiere event. My Shadow and Me, a family-oriented musical written by Bryan Seastrom and Mary Lauren, is a simple story about two friends and Fletcher the Dog, all helping each other achieve their artistic ambitions. Part of Cape May Stages Second Stage Series, My Shadow and Me will be performed on Mon., Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse in downtown Cape May.
The story unfolds when Mary finds herself lost backstage in an old Broadway theatre after another harrowing audition. She finds herself lost both literally and artistically as she tries to find inspiration in the crazy life of show business. She encounters a charming sheepdog named Fletcher and a troubled former vaudevillian performer both struggling with the changing times and they soon discover that they might be stronger as a team.
My Shadow and Me is a 90-minute world premiere musical review incorporating music, dance, comedy, and puppetry in a fun-filled evening to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Kids will love Fletcher, a warm and fun-loving puppet character that makes his stage debut in this production. After several years of development, Lauren and Seastrom have created a 2-person show that aims to celebrate show business and inspire and touch the hearts and funny bones of everyone. Its a magical show for the whole family.

About the Cast –
Mary Lauren is a proud Equity member who graduated from The College of Santa Fe with a BFA in Theatre with a concentration in Musical Theatre. She has performed professionally at Sierra Repertory Theatre, St. George Productions, The Cherry Lane Studio Theatre, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, WriteAct Rep Eastside, Curtain Call Dinner Theatre, Fullerton Civic Light Opera, The Chance Theatre and several other theatres. Favorite credits include Sarah in the world premiere of Sarah Was Mine, Ginger Rogers in the world premiere of Home With Ginger Rogers, Helena (Midsummer Nights Dream), Liesl (The Sound of Music), Celeste #1 (Sunday in the Park with George), Rita (White Christmas) and Polly Brown (The Boyfriend). She has directed, musical directed and/or choreographed for over 30 productions in California, New York and New Mexico. These companies include St. George Productions, WriteAct Rep Eastside, The College of Santa Fe, Mysterium Theatre, The Music Room, The Chance Theatre, The Genius Factory, ACE Musical Theatre, Parks Junior High and Villa Park High School. This fall/winter, Mary is portraying Emily Post in a biographical musical with St. George Productions.
Bryan Seastrom has tread stages throughout the United States, including Sierra Repertory Theater, PCPA Theaterfest, The Chance Theater, The Curtain Call Dinner Theater, Greer Garson Theater, and in 2007, toured the country in A Kids Life! . Some of his all-time favorite onstage credits have been Cosmo Brown in Singin in the Rain, The Rabbi in Fiddler on the Roof, and Vinnie in the original cast of The Wildest!!! Hip, Cool and Swingin, a musical review celebrating the style and sounds of Louis Prima and Keely Smith. He is portraying Americas favorite comedian, Bob Hope, in a new biographical musical with St. George Productions in Stony Brook, NY. Bryans other passion is puppetry and was recently the master puppeteer at SEA LIFE Aquarium, Carlsbad, where he originated and helped create two brand new shows for children. He studied acting at The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and holds a BFA in Musical Theater from The College of Santa Fe.
