Cape May Stage Donates to Food Closet

CAPE MAY – The spirit of giving continues throughout the holiday season at Cape May Stages Robert Shackleton Playhouse. In November, Cape May Stage offered patrons holiday discounts on theatre tickets to their recent production of A Tuna Christmas in exchange for donated food items for the Community Food Closet of Cape May, which serves families in need in Cape May. Patron generosity has been overwhelming, said Alicia Grasso, Cape May Stages marketing director. The Community Food Closet does an outstanding job providing food and support to Cape May families and were honored to participate in their efforts.
Cape May Stage employees delivered all donated items and contributed funds to the Food Closet just before Christmas. With terrific results, the Equity theatre company will extend the food drive during their final performances of A Tuna Christmas now playing through Dec. 30. Patrons can bring three non-perishable items to the box office and save $10 per ticket. The Food Closet is specifically requesting toilet paper, laundry detergent, small jars of jelly, small cans of soup, peanut butter, coffee, non-sugared cereal, and boxed pasta. “Our patrons have generous hearts. So, its no surprise to me that they rallied behind the food drive,” said Grasso. Were thrilled to keep it going throughout the holiday season.
