CAPE MAY — Murder lurks and the gauntlet is thrown in Cape May during Sherlock Holmes Weekend, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), Fri., March 16 through Sun., March 18. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s master sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, and his partner Dr. Watson match wits with Moriarty as they return to Cape May to face a baffling new case for 2012, “Sherlock Holmes and the Trial of Moriarty’s Challenge.”
“The Game’s Afoot” on Fri., March 16 at 8:30 p.m. at the Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St. Join the detective and his faithful assistant Dr. John Watson as they set the stage for an evening of crime and mystery.
Sat., March 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., tourgoers gather evidence as they visit a selection of Cape May’s Victorian treasures during the self-guided Search for Clues Tour.
The game continues Saturday, March 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St. Weekend participants will compare their findings to those of the famous detective.
Sun., March 18 at 12:30 p.m. at the Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St., Holmes finally unlocks the mystery. Once the mystery is solved, the winners are announced and prizes awarded.
The Sherlock Holmes Weekend is a popular Cape May event and is sold out this spring – except for the Search for Clues tour on Sat. Some participants for the weekend come dressed for the part.
