Cape May – Lewes Ferry Connects with Cape May Stage

CAPE MAY — In Charles Dickens’ holiday classic “A Christmas Carol,” the life events of Ebenezer Scrooge are well documented… but what ever happened to Jacob Marley? The Cape May – Lewes Ferry has joined with Cape May Stage to offer Delaware residents a special package to see the Theatre Company’s production of “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol.” The package, which includes round- trip ferry passage and tickets to the matinee show, is available on select weekends from Nov. 29 and Dec. 29.
“Cape May Stage is a regional treasure, offering first class productions in a unique, cozy setting,” said Jennifer Shivers, customer service manager for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. “We are excited to be able to partner with them to offer a great deal so that our Delaware customers can experience this story from another perspective.” Shivers noted that Cape May Stage’s Robert Shackleton Playhouse is located at Bank and Lafayette Streets in Cape May. The matinee performance begins at 3:00 p.m.
“We hope our neighbors from Delaware have the opportunity to experience the professional theatre that the residents of South Jersey have known for 25 years.” said Alicia Grasso, Cape May Stage Marketing Director.
The package is available on the following weekend dates: Nov. 30 and Dec. 1; Dec. 21-22; Dec. 28-29. Delaware customers may take either the 9:15 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. departures from the Lewes and return on the 6:00 p.m. vessel leaving Cape May. The package cost, which includes round trip ferry passage and tickets to the show, is $67.50 for the driver and vehicle; $31.50 for each additional adult; and $18.50 for children and students.
“Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” is a fascinating production. Chained and shackled, Marley is condemned for all eternity; however, when a malicious little evil sprite offers a desperate Marley one chance to free himself, he accepts. To escape his own chains, he must first redeem Scrooge. So begins a journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal. This irreverent, funny, and ultimately, deeply moving story retells Dickens’ classic with warmth and infectious zest. This thrilling performance is sure to become a holiday classic for generations to come!
