CAPE MAY — The Jazz Vespers Series at the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May is very proud to welcome back Denis DiBlasio and Brian Betz on Oct. 20 at 3:00 p.m. Denis is a South Jersey native that started his career at Glassboro State College and among other things found a home as Maynard Fergusons musical director. Denis has come full circle as a dedicated educator and now is back as the head at jazz studies at Rowan University.
The Glassboro/Rowan music department has produced scores of great talents and at the top of that group with Denis is his protégé Brian Betz. He is a two-time winner of the Betty Carter International Jazz Competition (2004, 2007) and a runner up for the 2006 Henry Mancini Jazz Competition.
Denis and Brian have a special talent for bringing out the best and revealing young musicians’ musical gifts. Together, they make up a powerful duo and never surround themselves with anything but the top sidemen anywhere.
