CAPE MAY – Learn how fire has shaped and reshaped the City of Cape May in the Carriage House Gallery exhibit, “Cape May Ablaze,” presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), which opens April 25. The exhibit is sponsored by Sturdy Savings Bank.
From the very beginning, fire has reshaped Cape May more so than any other force, natural or man-made. Even today, fire continues to be the bane of Cape May, a National Historic Landmark city, filled with hundreds of restored Victorian buildings.
Ben Miller, the exhibit’s curator and author of Exit Zero’s popular book, The First Resort, takes visitors on a journey through Cape May’s fiery past in this must-see exhibit that includes an authentic 1925 Model T fire truck.
Members of the public are invited to the free exhibit opening on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Carriage House Gallery, on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. The exhibit is free and open daily, April 25 through Oct. 14.
