California artist creates Jersey beach scene

By On Deck Staff

Ocean Galleries, 9618 Third Ave., Stone Harbor will kick off the 2009 summer season by welcoming Southern California artist Steve Barton for his first ever show on the northeastern coast.
Barton’s favorite subject is the beach, and his carefree style is making waves on the fine art scene.
Now Barton will be in Stone Harbor for special meet-and-greet cocktail receptions held throughout Memorial Day weekend, May 22, 23, 24, 7-10 p.m.
His paintings are in high demand and will be on display and available for purchase.
Celebrity collectors of Barton’s works include Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon and KC Mares, Dr. Laura, and All-American Racing Girl Becky Gordon.
When creating a painting, Barton and his family spend time searching out new beach settings and seaside flowers with vivid bright colors. They scour resort areas across the country looking for villas, cabins and archways that capture the heart of life on the beach.
His paintings reflect good times remembered and relaxing days to come. In honor of his first exhibit on the northeastern coast, Barton has created site-specific paintings of our local beaches.
Barton will also paint a select number of ceramic pigs, signature of the Adopt-A-Pig charity (adoptapig.org.
The program is designed to help children and their families cope as they face fighting cancer. The special pigs will be up for auction with proceeds benefiting Adopt-A-Pig.
