COURT HOUSE — The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company, in collaboration with the Ocean City POPS Orchestra, will present the full length musical Peter Pan at Middle Township’s Performing Arts Center for three nights only: Aug. 14, 15 & 16 at 7:30 p.m. The summer production will feature a cast of professional performers and special flying effects by Flying by Foy, the world-renowned expert in theatrical flying Peter Pan. The children’s story written by novelist J.M. Barrie and set to music by Broadway legend Jule Styne and Mark Charlap is touted as being the “one children’s show that adults have no trouble enjoying.” Combing the classic story backed by the professional Ocean City POPS, a stunning scenic masterpiece, magnificent costumes and spectacular effects, Peter Pan is sure to be a highlight of the 2013 Summer Season.
Peter Pan is under the direction of Michael J. Hartman, with choreography by Kelly Swartz and music direction by Jonathan Kreamer.
Portraying the title role is Morgan Kirner. No stranger to the OCTC stage, Kirner won over audiences last summer as “Cinderella” and she is currently making her Paper Mill Playhouse debut in the Broadway Musical, The Little Mermaid. That production will tour to some of the highest acclaimed regional theatres in the industry.
Accomplished regional theatre actor and director, John Anker Bow will conquer the villainous of role, Captain Hook with the Darling family being brought to life by Rachel Marlowe (Wendy), Corey John Hafner (John) and Marcia Dunlap (Mrs. Darling). Direct from a Philadelphia production of Ragtime, Connor McAndrews will act as the Hook’s sidekick, Smee.
In this story, Peter Pan is the boy “who won’t grow up.” Accompanied by Tinker Bell, Peter Pan meets Wendy, John and Michael in their nursery while searching for his shadow. He teaches them how to fly and journeys with them to the magical Neverland. There they join the Tribe of the Lost Boys, meet Indians and battle pirates, led by the notorious Captain Hook.
Tickets range from $15-$25 and are available at Middle Township Performing Arts Center’s Box Office, 212 Bayberry Drive
Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. You may also call 609-463-1924.
