CAPE MAY – Author and artist Nancy Patterson will be greeting members of the public and signing copies of her children’s book, “May the Magnificent Lighthouse,” June 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carriage House Gallery on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. This book signing event is sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).
This story is the first book released of five children’s books in the Southern New Jersey Lighthouse Series. Each book is written in rhyme, illustrated with full page fine art watercolor paintings and touches on the history of the lighthouses of Southern New Jersey. The children’s stories each emphasize a different letter, which helps teach vocabulary and reading skills. The series focuses on the importance of protecting New Jersey’s rich maritime history and shows the amazing things that can be accomplished when people work together.
Along with early art training from her mother and others in her family who are artists, Patterson studied art at Temple University. She lives with her family in Mauricetown, N.J. and operates a small art gallery next to her home called Bayberry Cottage Gallery. “May the Magnificent” was published by Bayberry Cottage Gallery in 2012 and is available for purchase in the Carriage House Gallery Shop.
