COURT HOUSE — The Performing Arts Center of Middle Township will continue in Nov. its innovative six month series showing films on a big screen.
The twice-monthly “Monday Night At The Movies” series, which will run until April and features prize winning independent and documentary films, will include in Nov. the independent hit “If I Were You” on Nov. 4, and the prize winning documentary “Hava Nagila” on Nov. 18. Both showings are at 7 p.m. Admission is $8.
“The PAC is re-creating the big movie houses of the past with a 25 by 40 foot screen, advanced projection capabilities and seating for up to 1,000 movie fans,” said Kay Aspell, managing director of the Performing Arts Center. “This, combined with new films rarely shown in this area, is making an exciting new educational and entertainment venture for Cape May County and its neighbors.”
The series, presented by the ProMedia Advertising Agency of Middle Township, opened in October with the documentary “More Than Honey” which is being touted as a possible Oscar nominee for this year. The film examines bees and the effect their loss would have on humanity. Two-hundred students in the district were invited to a special screening of the film during the day, and students may be invited to future educational presentations, as well.
“If I Were You” is a one hour and 55 minute, independent, romantic comedy starring award-winning, stage and screen actor Marcia Gay Harden.
“Hava Nagila” reveals the history, meaning and mystery of the Jewish song and encapsulates the Jewish journey over the last 150 years. The film features Connie Francis who made the song the first track on her famous album of Jewish favorites, and Glen Campbell who released an instrumental version. The song has become so popular that it is now a rally tune at athletic events, a hot dance number at nightclubs and a global hit online.
The Performing Arts Center is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive, Cape May Court House, one-mile east of Exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking and devices are available for the hearing-impaired.
