By Press Release

STONE HARBOR – The babies will have their day as the Borough of Stone Harbor, New Jersey, presents the Al Cunard Baby Parade, line up starting at 5:45 pm, with t he parade beginning at 6:30 pm on Monday, July 18, 2011. The parade will take place on 96th Street.
“This is one of our most popular events every year and is truly a sight to behold,” said Borough Tourism Director Joann DelVescio. “This year, we expect more than 75 infants and children to participate in strollers, carriages, wagons, bikes and eye-catching floats. Register your children, ages birth to 12 years old, for free.”
Stone Harbor Mayor Suzanne Walters and a panel of judges will award prizes for Cutest Boy, Cutest Girl, Best Riding, Best Float and Best Walking Entrant. Special Judges’ and Mayor’s Awards will be presented for unique categories.
“This is an exciting way for proud moms and dads to meet new friends and neighbors with children of a similar age,” DelVescio continued. “Best of all, every child wins, as each registered family receives a free participation medal.”
The Baby Parade is named in honor of the late Alfred Cunard, patriarch of the legendary Cunard Family of Clowns, who passed way at the age of 70 on May 19, 2007. For 45 years, Cunard donned his clown make-up to entertain children at parades, festivals, parties, schools and hospitals. His z est for life and laughs inspired two generations of Cunards to follow him into the world of clowning.
Interested families can register for the Baby Parade July 13 through 18 at the Chamber of Commerce office located at 212 96th Street in Stone Harbor. For more information call 609-368-6101.
