Instructor will teach how to use the Mac Interface: Finder and Finder windows, the desktop, the menu bar, the Dock, files and folders. iPad Workshop- Mail and Contacts
The Mail App is an excellent way to combine your multiple email accounts or use just one. We will go over the process of adding accounts, changing the important settings, and sending and receiving messages. Contacts are very important to the email because they save time and make sending messages easier.

Windows 8 Hands-On: Getting to Know Windows 8
Learn the basics: what is Windows 8 and how is it different from other versions of Windows? How do I start it up and shut it down? There can be a mouse AND a touch screen? Learn the Start Screen, Charms tool bar menu and desktop. Set up and customize your user accounts. Make Windows 8 easier to use (change screen sizes, background pictures, mouse sensitivity, and use multiple screens).

Apple Computer Class- Keynote and Presentation Secrets
Students will get a hands-on experience with Apple’s answer to PowerPoint, Keynote. In addition, the instructor will highlight the book, “The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience” by Carmine Gallo. Even if you are a die-hard PowerPoint user, consider this class as an opportunity to learn exactly how to use Jobs’ crowd-pleasing techniques in your own presentations! *The iPhone and iPad also have the Keynote App, but not all features may be available on these devices. Belly Dance- Beginner
In this class, instructor Victoria Athene will teach the basic movements of Belly Dance. Emphasis will be on posture and stretching in a safe and supported environment. Wear comfortable clothing and learn this ancient and beautiful dance form. Posture, breathing, and stretching is executed before, during, and after every class.

Advanced Memoir Writing
with Ms. Eva Feeley
For memoirists who have completed the “Write Your Own Memoirs” (or other beginner Memoir Writing workshop), this workshop will kick our writing up a notch! Participants will be introduced to revision and crafting options to enhance reader response to memoir pieces. We’ll learn to recognize the material that doesn’t fit into our current projects. Writers will also be taught the principles for developing an effective Writing Response Group so that giving and receiving critique won’t end with the workshop.

Safari isn’t the only way to surf the web. Instructor will show alternatives to Safari for web browsing, including Mercury, Chrome, Coast, and Dolphin. She will also look at different engines like Google and Bing.

Windows 8 Hands-On: Apps
Learn how to use the Apps that Windows 8 comes with (calculator, calendar, email, weather, travel, etc.- how to open them, use them, adjust app settings, rearrange them on your start screen, etc. Learn how to get new apps from the Windows App Store. Also covered- browsing and searching the store, exploring available apps by category, downloading and installing apps, how to uninstall apps.

Perhaps they arrived from a small town in Europe with only the clothes on their back? The challenge of researching your family is not finding the documents-it’s the new stories that you uncover!
